Melt! Festival 2009 in Ferropolis, Grafenhainichen, close to Dessau.

Few people know that Ferropolis/Graefenhainichen is located in a former coalmining region, Wittenberg, and during GDR years the nearby chemistry industry caused remarkably severe pollution.
This area was known as Bitterfeld. Nowadays, the environment seems natural and clean, a lot has been done to make it a surrounding worth living in. Lakes, woods, leasure sites, you can all find it here. Regarding to the press, the industry focusses on solar engineering and renewable energy.
We also find a very high unemployment rate and vanishingly few young people – They all moved to the cities or to the western part of Germany.
Naaaah, talking schmalking: It still is a nice place. You got the picture.

Melt! Festival July 18th – 20th, 2008 in Ferropolis, Grafenhainichen, close to Dessau. Remarkable setting and mind blowing acts: Goldie, Whitest Boy alive, Booka Shade, Roisin Murphy, Mode Selector, Gus Gus, Hot Chip, Björk and many many more.

It was a strange mix of sunshine and thunderstorm, but though a lot of fun. We were privileged to camp directly on the festival site, the permanant beats in our ears. I had a flu and a sore throat – but it was worth it after all.

Look out for this cosy venue: The Motoki Wohnzimmer. Motoki will provide us with some happy days during the TRIMM-DICH-TAGE.

Motoki Kollektiv is a bunch of creative blokes and girls who want to share their knowledge, space and time with others. I will judge for myself because I will attend some of the events. Hope nobody is offended by my name though ;).

The Motoki living room is located in the heart of [Cologne] Ehrenfeld, in 500m distance from Ehrenfeld station and close to Venloer Strasse.
The name Motoki “living room” puts a deeper meaning in the purpose of our place. It is social core of the Motoki collective. We invite friends, neighbors and visitors to events and activities here.

Decisons made easy: I was pregnant with thoughts of switching my blog to english language for half a year. There is a german post on this, too). So after 6 month of not being able to make my mind of I came back home realizing that it’s just about time to do it.

I hope the teutonic scent on my english smells sexy to you. So enjoy my blog telling wordbits of Cologne, Germany and whatever is happening on that Top Level Domain.

Heute morgen erreichte mich eine Mail. Die Regisseurin Christine Wernke sucht noch Sponsoren für Ihre Produktion Grenze: (Arbeitstitel)

Ein junges Filmteam aus Köln, angeführt von der Regisseurin Christine Wernke, möchte im Sommer 2007 einen Abschlussfilm der internationalen filmschule köln an der Ostsee realisieren, und alle Beteiligten sagen aus ganzem Herzen: I love film.

Sie arbeiten unermüdlich und unentgeltlich für das Projekt und treiben es bin an die Grenze des Machbaren … doch leider fehlt es noch an Geld, um die Vision von Christine Wernke wahrhaft lebendig werden zu lassen, um beispielsweise Requisiten kaufen und Kostüme schneidern lassen zu können.

In unserem Kurzspielfilm “GRENZE” (AT) geht es um das
Begreifen und Überwinden eines Traumas. Es ist die Geschichte
von Dana, deren Eltern versucht haben, mit ihr zusammen aus der
DDR über die Ostsee zu fliehen, als sie noch ein kleines Kind war.
An die gescheiterte Flucht hat Dana nur noch fragmentarische
Erinnerungen.
Das schrecklichste Ereignis dieser Nacht, nämlich den Tod
ihrer Zwillingsschwester Meike, hat Dana über zwanzig Jahre
verdrängt. Die surrealen Elemente in ihrer Wahrnehmung, in
denen sich das Verdrängte langsam wieder in das Bewusstsein
schiebt, sind der Motor für unsere Geschichte und für Danas
ersten Schritt zur Lösung ihres Traumas.
