A “first person” visualization of Twitter messages, inspired by We Feel Fine. Twitter messages are filtered by occurrences of the phrases:

which are placed in a visual scrolling message ticker. Similar to Digg Labs BigSpy.

Here is a new toy for wannabe graphic designers and photographers:

Adobe just released it’s online image proccessing tool Photoshop Express. After creating an account, you are able to upload, edit and publish your photos. Let’s see if this becomes a valuable photo community.
Some info:

• It’s 100% Flash
• There are functions to integrate your work into Facebook, Photobucket and Picasa. Why not Flickr?
• The interface actually does not convince me: Too slow, too much fading effects and shaded buttons.
• Image processing capabilties are reduced, somehow. Do not forget: It’s an online tool, not an replacement of a desktop version of Photoshop.

And Beware: In Adobes General Terms and Conditions it says:

So, Testphase ist vorbei. Twitter ist durchgefallen. Die Plattform ist genau das, wonach es sich anhört: Eine Drehscheibe für Tratsch & Klatsch. Gezwitscher. Die Durchreiche für quicke Infos.

Twitter mag sinnvoll sein für Leute, die ständig schnelle Trends auf dem Radar haben müssen. Mich macht das Ganze eher nervös: Ich hatte eine Weile Twitbin (eine Twitter Extension für Firefox) installiert. Natürlich auch die ein oder andere Mikronachricht eingetippt. Ganz schlimm. Ich konnte nicht mehr in Ruhe im Internet surfen. Ein Auge klebte permanent in der linken Browserspalte: Gibts was Neues? Gibts was Neues? Gibts was Neues? Gibts was Neues? Gibts was Neues?

Mal ganz offen Leute: Wo liegt der Unterschied zwischen einem Chatroom und Twitter?
Und noch offener: Wie haltet ihr das während eurer Arbeit aus? ständig popppen Messages auf, man kann sich gar nicht mehr auf seine Emails konzentrieren. Ach so - Ihr habt keine Arbeit? jedenfalls keine richtige? Das ist was anderes.

Ich will Twitter nicht. Mir reicht es, ausgewählte Infos in den Blogs meiner Wahl zu finden und die grossen Weltthemen in den Abendnachrichten im TV. Ich kann sehr gut damit leben, ohne Twitter den Anmeldeschluss für das Barcamp oder Devhouse Cologne zu verpassen. Hauptsache, ich kann mich ein paar Stunden am Tag auf etwas Wesentliches konzentrieren, anstatt mit schwirrendem Blick nebensächliche Prosa zu verfolgen. Pausenlos.

Bevor ich mich zum vierten Mal wiederhole: Twitter - Ohne mich. Logge mich aus.

Da hab ich was feines für DJs und andere Musikjunkies entdeckt:

Resident Advisor, der Berater des Platzhirschen: Ein kompetentes Portal, das sich mit elektronischer Tanzmusik beschäftigt. Redaktionell gut gepflegt, äusserst international ausgelegt und mit einer lebhaften und vielschichtigen Community.

Besonders gefallen mir die regelmässig veröffentlichten DJ-Sets, die jeder als Podcast downloaden kann.
DJ Set Download, telecharger, herunterladen, für Google ;).
Aber ganz ernstlich: Ich geniesse es einfach, wenn ich mir neue Musik direkt hörfertig auf den mp3-Player ziehen kann und das Ganze nicht über 20-sekündige Vorhör-Schnipsel bei Web-Records oder DJshop am permanent flimmernden Bildschirm machen muss.

Zu empfehlen war übrigens das Set von Alex Smoke, dieses ist aber leider schon archiviert und deshalb nicht mehr unter den Downloads. Andere namhafte DJs, die dort gepodcastet wurden (und leider schon archiviert sind):

Supersache sind bei RA die Single- und Album-Reviews, obwohl man die ja auch in Gazetten wie de:bug und laut.de findet. Ach, Überraschung: de:bug hat ja auch eine Podcast Kategorie… werde ich sofort mal reinhören, Rezension kommt dann.

In den RA-Foren findet man diverse, auch regionale Diskussionen. In der Germany Section wurde übrigens ein Interview mit Superpitcher zitiert, in dem die Metro Times globetrotterisch postuliert, in Berlin schliefe man ja mittlerweile ein, der Partykessel schlechthin sei jetzt Köln. Najanaja, wir wollens ja nicht übertreiben.

Ich wills mit der Salbaderei auch nicht übertreiben: Resident Advisor hat das typische Manko einer international geführten Website. Irgendwie einigt man sich für die grossen Themen auf den kleinsten gemeinsamen Nenner, und das bedeutet in dem Fall eine Überlast an steinzeitlichem Clubtechno a la Frankfurt und Detroit. Nevertheless, wer ein bisschen wühlt, findet Inspiration.
